I've blogged off and on over the last 8 years or so. I enjoy it but I'm not consistent with it. Maybe that will change with being a part of Vicki's Grow Your Blog event from 2 Bags Full.
It snowed again last night here in West Virginia. There is about 7" still on the ground. The temperature today has shot up to 48 degrees! That's so exciting. The sun is melting the snow from my car. Two friends stopped by yesterday to shovel my porch and a path to my car. I've a few appointments this week that I hope to fulfill. One is on Tuesday, when the daytime high is predicted to be 9 degrees. Doubt I'll make that one. We, as so many in the country, have been on a weather roller coaster this year of 2014.
I love to watch the birds. Especially in winter. I feed them daily and try to keep water available but in these frigid temps, it's difficult. I looked out the back door last evening and counted 14 deer eating my hemlocks. Eating what they could reach anyway. The trees are about 60 feet high. The deer stand on their hind legs to get to the tips of the branches. I really wanted to feed the deer but I researched it on the internet and it is not recommended. It throws their natural instinct off or some such scientific reason. I certainly don't want to upset the balance of nature so until I have proof otherwise, I'll follow that recommendation. I have seen them feast on the dry cat and dog foods I put out for the occasional stray passersby. They get into the sunflower seeds if they can reach the feeder.
I "craft" just about anything that can be. I cross stitch, crewel, embroider, knit, crochet, spindle spin, redo furniture, macrame, flower arranging and wreaths, took a class in stained glass (and hope to take more!). I've done weaving but don't have my own loom. I post photos of much of what I make. I have not yet posted my Christmas gifts. They'll show up later. Here is a hat I made for my aunt for Christmas a couple years ago. It's crocheted in wool and felted in the washing machine. It was my first time doing this and I was pleased.
I hope you're enjoying the trail of the Grow Your Blog party. It seems like 25 January arrived before I realized. I didn't have time to make one post for everything. I hope you will stop by again. Follow me. If I don't offer your preference, please leave me a comment and I will make that change. I'm going to add Google Friend Connect, as requested by one commenter, as soon as I figure it out.
Thank you again for visiting. I will visit you in the next few days if I know you've stopped by.
An interesting post that I enjoyed reading.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
Is that a red bellied woodpecker? We have those, downy & hairy woodpeckers. Lots of snow here in Morgantown today too!
ReplyDeleteI saw that you loved The Help and CeeCee Honeycutt books (on my blog). Those are two of my favorites, too! I love your bird pictures and am a fan of watching them, too. I adore goldfinches and bluebirds especially. Always such a treat when I get a glimpse of them.:) Lori
ReplyDeleteHi LesleyAnn! Wasn't Sunday gloriously warm!
ReplyDeleteLove the red-bellied woodpecker photo! It's a great shot.
I don't think I'll be getting out in the weather tomorrow, either. I'm going to sprint to the grocery while it's still above freezing today. Stay warm!
You are amazing. I hate the thought of you not hearing another voice. I live out in the sticks and several days can go by without seeing someone. Of course I can get into the car and drive into town without a lot of planning so I can always do something about it. Still, meaningful conversations may not be found. Deer come out of the forest and graze in our meadow at dusk. They are welcome although I may not say the same if they go after the vegetables in Spring. I'm going to follow by email.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. We had rain yesterday which is melting the snow. However, today was freezing!
ReplyDeleteNice photos.
So nice to meet you via the GYB party! Your photos are great. I look forward to seeing more of your blog.
ReplyDeleteLord save me from being more connected...no google friends connect for me -grin-.
ReplyDeleteFun to hear your WV stories. The next 2 layouts I'm planning will be the 2 places we lived in Huntington. We had a good time there, a place neither of us had lived before. Bob grew up in St. Albans. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteYou made that hat? Amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi Lesley Ann. What a delight to meet you. You appear to be quite an accomplished crafter. I am just learning to knit, but don't know how to read the patterns. I tried to sign up with your Google Friend Connect, but it isn't working :-(
ReplyDeleteHi LesleyAnn! I am dropping over via GYB and looking forward to reading more about your beautiful place in the world, your cuddly critters and your plethora of handiwork pastimes. I also have enjoyed an assortment of hobby crafts over the years, my current fave being polymer clay and jewelry design.
ReplyDeleteYour GFC gadget is not presently working. I've followed via Bloglovin for now, but will add myself to your GFC on my next visit. I use both blog feeds regularly so am hopeful not to miss any of your posts. Enjoy your snowy landscapes :)
wow that's a lot of crafts. I don't do quite as many as you because I had to limit myself I was spending too much! I love your pink hat it is stunning!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your blog/ story! I hope to visit again soon. Please consider coming over & visiting my embroidery/ redwork blog. I'm in the 1st set of the GYB list.

Hi LesleyAnn, I found your blog via the GYB event and am looking forward to following along and exploring your blog further. Love your wildlife pics.
ReplyDeleteHey LesleyAnn I am amazed at what you have overcome and how positive you seem to be. I love your photography. I'm down south and we just got hit with a bad storm. It has been lovely seeing all the snow but I wish they knew how to handle it. it has been nice getting to know you.

Hello from the Yukon! I hope you're enjoining this party as much as I do :)
ReplyDeleteEvalina, This and that...
a lady after my own heart - a multi-craftual! Love that hat!
ReplyDeleteWell it is nice to meet you along the blog party route! Lovin' that felted hat! I, too am enjoying the fine feathered friends that are frequenting my feeders. They bring great joy, especially in the winter doldrums. Stay warm and safe and dry! Aloha
ReplyDeleteGood Day, it is nice to meet you here in blogland. I look forward to hearing about your crafting and gardening. Have a wonderful day, Toni from Easy Street Ramblings (peddlerjo.blogspot.com)
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you Leslie Ann. Love your bird pictures, I watch the birds from my window all the time. Here in the Pacific Northwest we don't get the same variety of birds but my feeder is full and so is my hummingbird feeder and we still have several hummers. I like to quilt and am following along with Celtic Solstice by Bonnie Hunter. I also cross stitch when the urge hits and like to spend time playing games with my kids.
ReplyDeleteLesleyAnn, a pleasure to meet you and so glad I dropped by. Have enjoyed visiting and getting a look at your lovely crafts. Plan to follow via email and look forward to returning soon. Hugs, Carole
