Just another day ...

The weather here has been unseasonally warm. The mornings are cold with very heavy frosts but the days have warmed to near 60 until today ... 73 degrees! Tomorrow is supposed to be near the same. I feel a bit odd searching for icicle lights to hang outdoors when I feel the need to weed a flower bed or do some sort of outside work.

I purchased my dishwasher last evening. I feel I made a good choice and got a good price. Whirlpool 51-decibel (supposed to be quiet enough to not disturb kitchen conversation); originally $599, on sale for $379. I'm used to the $100 loud one I had so I won't know what to do with a nice one! I'm excited for Thursday's delivery. I gave the old one to my aunt's cleaning lady. Her husband will be here Monday to get it and repair it. I'm told it's just a hose plugged up. I hope that's all it is. I'd rather give it to someone who doesn't have one than let Lowe's take it off and dump it.

Mister, my tabby buddy, has been diagnosed with diabetes. It just broke my heart when the vet told me. I just didn't want to deal with another sick one. He's lost one pound. He has a skin condition that requires steroid shots. The steroid shots have caused diabetes. I can't stop the steroid shots because the skin condition gets quite severe. He loses hair down his spine and raw sores develop. I will wait longer periods of time between the shots. That should help a little. He's shown signs of diabetes with the lethargy and abundance of water intake. He'd gotten to the point where he would just lay by the water fountain because he was too tired to walk to it so often. I just placed his bed by it so he'd be comfortable. The vet started him on glipizide and I get it filled at my pharmacy. I got an odd look when they asked for my date of birth and I said "I have no idea; it's for my cat". ha He's doing better after the medicine. I give him a tablespoon of plain Greek yogurt with a crushed pill in it and he gobbles it down twice a day. Hopefully it will always be this easy.

  1. we have this anchor of hope - that is what sustains us LesleyAnn - poor kitty, I pray for you He will strengthen and comfort you LesleyAnn He is faithful and so so gracious even when it is so hard and heart breaking! cling to Our Lord Jesus,
and I celebrate with you the new dishwasher, the warm daylight weather, and kitty taking his medicine :) God provides the smiles and the joy even amidst the suffering - He always does

  2. Sorry about your kitty, but hoping the medication will help. Praying for cooler temps and better days ahead. Blessings, Cindy

  3. Oh my, so sorry to hear Mister has diabetes. It seems to me that nearly everything we're told that our animals need causes something else for us to have to contend with. When our daughter's pup contracted a skin disease (got it from the vets office when it stayed overnight O.O) we got a certain wormer, gave it to the dog in shot form and the skin cleared up. I'll be praying the Lord will show you what to do that would be easier on Mister and yourself. It's just my opinion, but most vets, even though they are lovely people, they only know what they learned in school while there are things that farmers used to know that is simpler and costs less.
Hope you are doing well. Have a great week!

  4. Ohh I'm sorry that your beautiful kitty has health issues. Fingers crossed that you can manage it all without too much difficulty. Our pets are precious and it's so sad when they get sick.

I hope you have a lovely holiday season. It's always wonderful to hear from you..

  5. It's hard sometimes to make the best decisions regarding our pets' health. At least the diagnosis was a good one and the meds are helping. He's a beautiful cat.

We have a dog with some bad skin conditions and the meds only help so long, then it seems we need to readjust diet, etc. It is wearisome when the treatments don't work as well as I wish and our poor dog is losing his fur and covered in rashes. I am hoping his need for prednisone and Benadryl doesn't cause other problems , like diabetes. Guess all we can do is our best for them and love them.

  6. Hello LesleyAnn
Thank you for visiting and following my blog. I have of course added you to the Giveaway list :-)

I have been reading some of your posts and couldn't help feeling sad at the loss of your friend,Samson. We lost our 20 year old cat Willie last year. It was his time and he had to go but we do miss him much. I do feel for you!

    keep well

    Amanda :-)

  7. Hello, I just discovered your blog. I'm so sorry to hear about your dear kitty. I know how you feel as my cat Pumpkin developed diabetes and required daily insulin shots. Lilly sends her meows to all of you. I hope to stop by again for a visit. Sending you my best wishes from southern California, Pat

  8. i was trying to recall how many dishwashers we have been through since the beginning of our marriage in 2004. it feels like 3 or is it 4? we have not had good luck. kind of sad. we finally went with one that is way cheap & it is the one that is working the best out of them all. sad that you would think the more you pay, the better it would work, nope, not always. just the nature of the beast, that is not the saying i am looking for, but something similar??! my memory is failing me at the moment, i have a terrible sinus headache. nuts. ( :

we have a friend who's cat has a similar health issue, she give him shots & everything, just like a human. it is so wild. i never realized that cats could go through similar things like us humans. & he seem to be doing just fine. it is $$$ to keep him in the meds & what not. they have to make sure of what treats he gets & all that jazz. there are 2 other cats, or is it one? they have a several cats & one dog named Rebel. it is a big family. ha. ha!! i am sorry you have to go through this ... hope all will be ok. i know pets are just such a big part of our lives.

  9. Ooh, so very sorry to read about Mister, my own tabby cat Sydney was diagnosed with diabetes, and I gave him insulin shots everyday for two years. I was devastated when he passed.
Hope the dishwasher works out well for you, I need to replace one of our refrigerators but dislike having to choose all the stats and making the decision :)
    Stay warm !

  10. I am sorry about Mister. Sounds like you made a great buy and choice in the dishwasher. 73 degrees is warm it is snowing here. Hug B

  11. So sad about Mister, you are wonderful to keep him comfortable

  12. Oh and good deal on the dishwasher, love to get a good deal once in awhile, it moves us through life. Oh, we have 10 to 20 inches of snow over a day and a half coming our way.... our way right now is down south North carolina, I'm going home, lol

I appreciate you stopping by. I hope you enjoyed your visit.
